Fishing report June 30 2025 – Springs Hot When Hooked!

Hi All

This is going to be  quick report as we are in between guests and getting things ready.

Fishing is very solid all over Barkley Sound right now. It has been a stellar June and all things look like it is going to continue to be amazing through the start of July.

As I stated in my first report of the season the best and most consistent chinook fishing has been around the perimeter of the Sound. If the water allows, get to Beale, Austin, Cree, and Meares. Harbour Entrance and Swale are also producing as well.

I’ve been working the inside of Beale trolling back and forth east and west tight to structure where the bait is holding. I’ve been running green and white skinny g knock off spoons 6 feet behind green, lime green and black flashers. Because I’ve been fishing tight to structure I’ve been running my gear between 44 and 49 feet. At Austin and Cree try anywhere from 55 to 90 feet on the rigger. At Harbour Entrance  and Swale drop your gear between 50 and 80 feet. Keep a fast troll from 2.7 to 3 mph speed over ground.

The springs have been hot when hooked! So much fun, blistering runs! I gotta say that the size of the chinook has been a pleasant surprise. Lots of teenagers and quite a few 20 lb plus fish in the mix!

Don’t forget about glow white hoochies, you can’t go wrong running those on your downrigger.

Coho fishing is hit and miss. If they are around you’ll get into them, you just gotta be in the right place at the right time.

Offshore hali fishing continues to be very solid. Salmon bellies on spreader bars are always a go to. I’ve also had good luck jigging 16 oz Lighthouse swim baits in green and white. Tons of fun when you feel that hit!

As I said this is a quick one. Stay tuned for an update in a few days.

as usual the store is stocked with tackle, gear and salt ice. There are rooms at the lodge should you need a place to stay in July. August is getting very much booked up. Call Brenda at 250-728-3330 and get your lodging secured asap.

In the meantime, Coach (aka Jonathan) is out.
