Fishing report July 21 2025 – It’s Hoochie Mama Time!
. Hi All It’s about blooming time! It seems that the algae bloom that has plagued Barkley Sound for the past two weeks is finally dissipating. I wouldn’t say it’s completely gone but it is definitely better water especially near the perimeter of the Sound. There were some slower days during the bloom but fish were still to be had if you put the time in. That said, fishing has certainly picked up the past few days. Here is the skinny…It’s hoochie mama time folks. Hoochies …
Fishing report July 9 2025 – It’s “Bloomin” Nuts Out Here!
If any of you have been on the water in Barkley Sound the past week you’ll know exactly what I am talking about. I have had guests that turn green in a good swell but not like this. It’s not often that the water around the Sound is a bright and somewhat beautiful aqua green, but right now the whole Sound looks like somebody laid down astro turf from Port Alberni to Cape Beale. Kirby, Fleming, the Wall, Beale, Austin and Cree are all happening right now. Get up early and take advantage of the early morning bite. It is a virtual guarantee for multiple hookups first thing. Traditionally this is a bait fishery. Anchovies rolled on teaser heads 6 – 7 feet behind your …
Fishing Report August 11 2024
Well I deserve it. I am getting so much flack from people. ” I’ve got a bone to pick with you! your last report was July 17th!” It’s true and I do deserve it. I have no defense. Just tired I guess. This morning I am in between guests. Nat and Franco from Nat’s Pizza in Kitsilano just left yesterday and I have a new group coming in this afternoon. My morning is sort of free, other than laundry, boat …
